Our Mission

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls (Goal #5 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals).

According to the UN, “Gender equality is not only a fundamental right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. There has been progress over the last decades, but the world is not on track to achieve gender equality by 2030” (UN Sustainable Development Goals). We want to be part of the change.

Our mission is to support Zimele Wethu and Zimele USA in empowering women, men, and children in the underserved, rural communities of South Africa. We recognize the importance of building the capacity of women and that self help groups are a powerful tool for sustainable poverty alleviation.

We are entirely student-led and believe that all youth, from the youngest to the oldest, have the power to bring about positive change in their global communities. In a world that is growing more interconnected by the day, we believe it is crucial that students learn to think beyond themselves and understand what it means to be a global citizen.
